Motion: Ms. Elkort Second: Mr. Burr VOTE: 5 - 0 Mr. Friel explained that the Executive Office had undertaken the process of reviewing and recommending changes to improve and modernize the regulations regulating taxi/livery rules and regulations for the safety and convenience of the public. The current rules were inadequate. Mr. Friel took a moment to highlight several of the proposed changes. He noted that staff felt that the number of vehicles and licenses was adequate, and underscored the importance of the Police Department's role in the proposed regulations. He noted that the license effective period would be for one year, but suggested September 30 as the new renewal date to ease the burden on the Executive Office's license renewals in December. The proposed fees would be $75 for taxis, $125 for private livery vehicles, $250 for scheduled limousines, and $75 for private buses. Penalties would be issued by the Police Department, and the Board would be the venue to have disputes being settled. I:\Matt\80S Meetings 2004\805 Meeting Minutes 2004\805 Minutes - 07-13-2004.doc
