Mr. Friel introduced the Chief of Police, Ken Berkowitz. He noted will appear on the left shoulder of the uniforms as of 10-15-06. Chief noted it is placed on the left shoulder because it is closer to the heart. The design of the patch was a group amongst the officers. Once a design was chosen, it was forwarded to a gentleman on the Cape who completed the design of the patch. The scene on the patch has three distinct images: Paul Revere, lantern in hand, riding his horse upon a copper roll; the Viaduct is in the background of the image, blue hills in the background, along with the native beads outlining overall; gold symbolizing excellence, and black attributing the members lost in the line of duty, and a blue line separating good from evil.
