Minutes Board of Selectmen October 19, 2010 Memorial Hall -Salah Meeting Room Present: Victor Del Vecchio, Chairman, Avril Elkort, Vice-Chairman, Robert E. Burr, Jr., Clerk, John J.
Connolly, Member, Gerald A. Salvatori, Jr., Member, William T. Friel, Town Administrator, Jennifer Andrews, Administrative Secretary. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Police
Department Personnel advancement — Sergeant Joseph Silvasy, Detective Sergeant Rob Gooley, Juvenile Detective Chip Yeaton, Detective Glen Piro — Chief Ken Berkowitz. Chief Berkowitz
introduced members of the Canton Police Deparment who recently advanced with in the department. Joseph Silvasy had been promoted to Sergeant, Rob Gooley had been promoted to Detective
Sergeant, Chip Yeaton had been promoted to Juvenile Detective and Glen Piro had been promoted to Detective. Chief Berkowitz recognized them individually for there hard work and dedication.
The Board congratulated the officers on their accomplishments. Action Items/New Business Vote to Approve: Proclamation for Blue Hill Masonic Lodge — John Ciccotelli Motion was made to
approve and execute the Proclamation for the Blue Hill Masonic Lodge. Motion: Mr. Burr Second: Ms. Elkort Vote: 5-0 Vote to Approve: Personnel Action Form for Josephy Silvasy to be appointed
as Sergeant effective October 12, 2010. Motion was made to approve the Personnel Action Form for Joseph Silvasy to be appointed as Sergeant effective October 12, 2010. Motion: Mr. Burr
Second: Ms. Elkort Vote: 5-0 Vote to Appoint: Jonathan McCourt as Police Officer effective October 10, 2010. Motion was made to appoint Jonathan McCourt as Police Officer effective October
10, 2010. Motion: Mr. Burr Second: Ms. Elkort Vote: 5-0 
Action Items/Old Business Waiver of engineering fees for Maintenance on Existing Antenna located at 2438 Washington Street — Verizon Wireless. This matter was held pending further information.
Action Items/Other Business Cemetery Cemetery Commitment: $975.00 Motion: Mr. Burr Second: Ms. Elkort Vote: 5-0 Minutes Vote to Approve: Minutes from previous Board of Selectmen Meeting
held on March 2, 2010. Motion was made to approve the Minutes from previous Board of Selectmen Meeting held on March 2, 2010. Motion: Mr. Burr Second: Ms. Elkort Vote: 5-0 Public Announcement/Comment
The Board of Selectmen will hold its next meeting in the Salah Meeting Room in Memorial Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Each member was asked individually if he or she
wished to go into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing Housing Authority Potential Litigation and Individual Contract Negotiations. Mr. Del Vecchio declared that discussing
these items in open meeting would have a detrimental effect on the position position of the Town of Canton and therefore will be discussed in Executive Session. Each answered in the
affirmative. Mr. Burr Affirmative Mr. Salvatori: Affirmative Mr. Del Vecchio Affirmative Ms. Elkort Affirmative Mr. Burr noted that the Board would not be returning to Open Session.
