Chairman Chris Connolly called to order the Planning Board meeting of March 20,
2013 at 7:00 p.m.
1 St Item on the Agenda - Amend Section 1 of the Table of Use Regulations by
Changing "N" to `BA" for Light Manufacturing in the Business District. (Attorney
Paul Schneiders) (request for continuance to March 20, 2013 from February 20,
2013 & March 6, 2013).
Attorney Paul Schneiders introduced himself and John Hammond and passed out a
picture of the building located at 1027 Turnpike Street which was formerly Downey
Chevrolet, which has been empty for a long time, and a copy of Article 23, which reads:
"Motion, Article 23, 2013, Annual Town Meeting. MOVED: That Section 2 of the
Table of Use Regulations be amended by changing "N" to `BA" for light manufacturing
in the Business District, but not including the Central Business Area." He explained that
light manufacturing is prohibited in this area, but a lot of businesses are violating this,
such as dentists in this area. Conditions should be put on this such as "fiom Sherman
Street to Cobbs Coiner" and Hillside and Royall on Rt. 138. We do have a Central
Business area but it is not on the map yet because the map is not updated.
Mr. Comeau stated that he believes the Central Business area is from Sherman Street to
the High School, and from Revere Street to Neponset Street. Also, if this Article passes
will this be reflected in the by -laws?
Mr. Hammond explained that he has worked with Tony Will. This vacant car dealership
on Turnpike Street had a large paint area and was not intrusive and this is a similar
situation.
