Motion was made to open the Public Hearing to discuss amending the Traffic Rules and Regulations by
implementing traffic calming measures to abate traffic on Ridge Hill Road.
Motion: Mr. Feeney Second: Mr. Del Vecchio Vote: 5-0
Mr. Aspinwall explained that the Board of Selectmen had received a recommendation from the
Engineering Division regarding traffic calming on Ridge Hill Road in response to a resident who filed a
traffic concern form. The recommendation was to remove the stop sign at the intersection of
Wentworth Road and Ridge Hill Road to diminish the amount of cars turning onto Ridge Hill to avoid the
further stop signs on Wentworth. In the recommendation, it was also noted that after a time, if this did
not reduce traffic on Ridge Hill, there was another option to install a "no right turn" sign in the morning
hours from Wentworth onto Ridge Hill.
Mr. Connolly noted that he was in favor of installing a "no right turn" between the hours of 6:00 a.m.
and 9:00 a.m. and to leave the stop sign in place.
There was a brief discussion concerning the use of stop signs as traffic calming measures.
The floor was open to the public.
Barbara Stanwood, 20 Ridge Hill Road stood in favor of the "no right turn" sign.
Jeremy Scott, 10 Ridge Hill Road stood in favor of leaving the stop sign in place and installing the "no
right turn" sign.
Alan Rappaport, 5 Ridge Hill Road stood to discuss the speed of the cars. He was more concerned with
the speed than the volume. There was mention of the speed radar sign that had been posted on Ridge
Hill Road.
Barbara Slawsby, 4 Ridge Hill Road also noted the cars are speeding on the street.
