Transmission, LLC
Request for Determination of Applicability to conduct two geotechnical borings
located on each side of Route 138 within Algonquin Gas's maintained Q-1
System Right Of Way and approximately 20 -feet east of the shoulder of Route
138 within an existing gravel parking lot within the maintained Q-1 System Right
Of Way. Geotechnical boring locations are within the 100' Buffer Zone of a
Bordering Vegetated Wetland. (Map 75, Lot 7 and Map 89, Lot 26)
Power Point presentation by Jon Bonsall of Access Northeast and Mike Tyrell of TRC
Solutions presented the following:
• Request for a Negative Determination for two Geotechnical borings along
Rte. 138, to allow Algonquin Gas to assess the feasibility of utilizing a jack and
bore trenchless construction technique to install an underground pipeline
associated with Access Northeast Pipeline project across Rte. 138.
• Proposed work is within the 100' Buffer Zone of a Bordering Vegetated Wetland,
proposed boring work won't impact wetlands. Standard tracked drill rig to collect
the geotechnical samples. Water and Bentonite mixture lubricant will be utilized
for the drill bit.
• Once samples are collected, the boring holes will be back-filled to ground level
with a Bentonite cement grout.
• Proposed boring work will take two to three days for each boring.
