Member from Audience, Pat spoke about what seems to be the current traffic plan of funneling traffic
onto a specific set of main roads and not utilizing side streets. She feels that widening roads only helps
in the short term and is making life worse for residents and that everyone should bear the burden of
traffic. It is difficult for her to get in her driveway on Washington Street. Some ideas: less bus stops,
park and walk areas, more courtesy.
Updates from members:
Laura Smead:
Is looking into having (3) transportation companies provide quotes for different options at the
Randolph/Washington Street intersection. Mark Porter will ask for public mitigation funds at next
selectman meeting to set up a design firm to have public meetings similar to the MAPC to see what
residents wanted so it could go before town meeting. Realistically will not be shovel ready until the
summer of 2018.
Mark Porter:
Update on Dedham/Washington and Chapman/Washington intersections. Work is 90% done. Hopefully
will be finished mid to late October. Smart system will not be fully functional until wires are moved.
Peter Pineo:
The State has been making changes to 138 by the Reebok intersection. They took away a turn lane. The
State sought the town's input when the original work was done and a lot of time was spent on it. Mark
will try to find out if they notified or asked the town about the changes they are now making.
Gary Ronan:
Prospect Street: The new sidewalk has barely a rise in it and people are still parking and causing
problems for the children walking there. They have called the police who have taken action. Mark
suggested they fill out a traffic concern form.
