Larry Ansford and (3) abutters to the Ponkapoag Civic Association are having issues with parking and
traffic flow during the summer and when the Civic holds events. Cars sometimes can't get through, not
enough room for fire engines, etc. The post office will not deliver the mail if the boxes are blocked.
They have destroyed lawns on the edges, etc. They have tried talking to them to no avail.
No parking signs needs to be replaced as they have been knocked down and the fire hydrant needs to be
clearly marked. Will also ask the police chiefforextra patrols.
Brien Lieb came to speak about the Roundabout and all the problems its causing him as his house abuts
it. The noise level has sky rocketed with honking horns and the trucks braking....needs signage on how
to drive through rotary and no truck braking signs. People drive the wrong way through the rotary and
accidents have increased.
Mark Porter will see about having the signage put up to try to curb some of the noise.
Tony Braconi has an Article (43) for town meeting that is asking for $400,000.00 or so for a
comprehensive study and review of all traffic issues before instituting big changes. It would look at all
areas of town. Also talked about having one place where all of the traffic changes are kept so the town
can keep track of them. We discussed the Plymouth Rubber traffic study and a wide array of changes to
be made. He also informed us that Mike Trotta had proposed a traffic study similar to his in 2010 and
Tony would like our support. The committee all had concerns that this would not really accomplish
what we wanted it to and was expensive. Tony asked if we had any follow up ideas to get in touch with
him.
Updates from members:
The Fuller Street light control issues are being taken care of. There is already money in the capital
budget for better signage at the Luce School.
Outstanding Items:
Mike Trotta from DPW to come to go over how we can have crosswalks improved.
Need crosswalk for Boliver and Lawrence.
One way parking on Prospect Street
Improved Stop signs at Water and Spruce Streets
