Meeting was called to order at 7:04 pm.
Earl Newhouse Master Plan- Discussion and Appropriation
Laura Smead, Town Planner appeared before the Board to report on the status of the Master Plan for
the Earl Newhouse Waterfront. Ms. Smead proposed three various options to the Board and was looking
for the Board input and direction as how to proceed. The Board agreed that it was better to get costs for
the project and to start with engineering plans. Ms. Smead will continue to apply for grant money. Once
the costs are determined, there may be some work that can be performed by the DPW department,
providing they don't take away from other projects. Ms. Smead will proceed with the process of getting
the engineering design plans.
Board of Selectmen vacancy-discussion to fill or not to fill the position
The result of the discussion was to wait until the regular election in April of 2019 to fill the vacancy on
the Board due to the cost of approximately $13,000-$15,000 according to the Town Clerk to have a
Special Election and the relatively short time frame. Interested candidate would need time to file papers
and campaign for votes. Mr. Aspinwall stated if no action is taken, then it goes to the regular election in
April.
Nomination of Clerk
Thomas Theodore was nominated to be Clerk by John Connolly and seconded by Chris Connolly.
Motion was made to appoint Thomas Theodore as Clerk.
Motion: Mr.1. Connolly Second: Mr. C. Connolly Vote: 4-0
Motion was made to Approve the Board of Selectmen meeting schedule January 2019 to June 2019
