Canton Parking Study Presentation
Laura Smead and Jason Shreiber from Stantec appeared before the Board with a power point
presentation on the Downtown Canton Parking Study. Ms. Smead received a grant to perform an
analysis of the parking in the downtown area of Canton. The study concluded that there are not a lot of
parking options for residents that choose to park for long term parking. The recommendations are
better signage, better multi modal conditions with more crosswalks, shared parking, and
reconsideration time limits on street regulations. Ms. Smead and Mr. Shreiber also suggested enforcing
parking more actively. The presenters suggested using Walgreens parking lot, but as Selectmen Connolly
mentioned, that is privately owned. The feedback was received by the Board and Chairman Porter
stated that they look forward to continuing the conversation and to stay in communication with the
Board.

the recommendation is to replace the pool and bathhouse at the same location on Bolivar Street, using
the same footprint as current pool. Ms. Francis noted that they are in the early stages of looking at
funding sources and gathering proposals. Ms. Francis did note they have met with some potential
designers and the initial report from CHA Associates came back with a cost of approximately $4.6
