Public Works(Water Enterprise) Michael Trotta
PROJECT /EQUIPMENT TITLE:
Repurposing of MWRA Control Valve at Dedham Street
TOTAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT COST:
$203,000
DESCRIPTION:
Engineering design and construction to repurpose the existing pressure reducing valve to act
as an electronically controllable pressure reducing valve.
PURPOSE AND JUSTIFICATION:
Based on model simulations ,sampling results water age in Town's water is in need of improvement due
to low percentage of turn in the tanks. A digitally controllable valve is needed to limit flow from the
M WRA during peak times, which will require that the water in the storage is used first. This will increase
water turnover and lower the age of the water coming from the tanks into the distribution system.

TOTAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT COST:

DESCRIPTION:
Develop design plans and specifications for water distribution system improvements as
detailed in Year 1 of the Water System Management Plan 2018 Update.
PURPOSE AND ]USTIFICATION:
A distribution system must have sufficient capacity to provide adequate service pressure while meeting
the demands of consumption and fire protection. While the service pressure throughout Canton's
system is good, deficiencies exist in main size, line continuity, fire flow availability. The CIP was
developed to correct existing deficiencies and to meet future demands.

BUDGET: Demolition of 44 Pine St. Water pepartment Building
Thank you for the opportunity to send you this budgetary proposal for the demolition of
the former Water bepartment building located at 44 Pine St.
One of the most important first steps to accurately forecasting demolition project is
obtaining an environmental survey. This will give you an understanding of any
environmental abatement that needs to take place prior to demolition or additional
disposal expense that may be needed. Environmental contaminants that may be tested
for and quantified include asbestos, lead and other metals, PCBs, and oils.
Scope of Work:
• Dismantle brick and timber building to grade. Foundations and footings to remain.
• Dismantle roof of sunken water tank and sidewalls to grade.
• Lawful disposal of all building materials generated during demolition,
Specific exclusions:
• Utility disconnects, including electrical, water, sewer, gas.
• Environmental surveys and abatement.
• Erosion control plans or implementation.
• Backfill.
• Dewatering/pumping holding tank,
Normal working hours are 7-3.30 Monday-Friday. Demolition work is anticipated to tale
one week,
Base Bid. Sixty Five Thousand Dollars ($65,000.00)
Please let me Know how we can be of further assistance on this project.
